Tours Of The Bruny Island Hempcrete Homes

Between the 23rd January and the 27th February this year, our Executive Officer Andi Lucas offered free tours of the hempcrete houses she is building on Bruny Island.

Over six weekends, a total of 48 folks – a combination of current, new and potential THA members – who were keen to take a look at the progress of the build and learn about our state’s industry came through the site.  The build in Alonnah is first to use Tasmanian grown and processed hemp, which is entirely thanks to one of our association initiatives leading to the establishment of fibre processing capabilities at X-Hemp.

Without a strong association like the one we have here in Tassie, projects like X-Hemp would simply not be possible, and hemp straw would have been burned off as waste again this season instead of being harvested and turned into building materials.  We thank all our current Grower, Corporate, Associate and Supporter Members for joining our ranks and helping us make these leaps in industry development possible.
